Antioxidants for Pet Food Additives

Oxidation of fats is the general term used for the chemical processes which result in rancidity. Rancidity drastically reduces palatability and can result in food refusal from pets, the oxidation process will also destroy nutrients and can cause rapid destruction of vitamins. The components in pet food which are susceptible to oxidation include fats, oils, vitamins and pigments. The oxidation reaction is irreversible. Antioxidants prevent the oxidation process from taking place and extend the products shelf life.

BANOX

Multistage antioxidant specially designed for the prevention of autoxidation in all animal feeds and feed ingredients. Banox is a synergistic blend of antioxidants and chelating agents which stabilises and extends the shelf life of fats and vitamins, maintaining nutritional value and preventing feed refusal. The biological chelating agent used still maintains the availability of the micro-elements to livestock. Suited to animal feed premixes.

BHA (Food Grade)

Butylated Hydroxy Anisole (BHA) is a waxy, solid antioxidant food additive, E number 320. It is an effective antioxidant for animal fats and for vegetable fats in fried and baked foods where heating is involved. It is also effective as an antioxidant in margarine, fish oils, vitamins, flavours and essential oils.

BHT (Food Grade)

Butylated Hydroxy Toluene (BHT) is a fine crystal antioxidant food additive, E number 321. It is a particularly good antioxidant for stabilising meat, fish and bone meals and may also be used for stabilising fish oils, vitamins and essential oils.

Oxiban

Multistage antioxidant specially designed for the prevention of autoxidation in all animal feeds and feed ingredients. Oxiban is a synergistic blend of antioxidants and chelating agents which stabilises and extends the shelf life of fats and vitamins, maintaining nutritional value and preventing feed refusal. The biological chelating agent used still maintains the availability of the micro-elements to livestock. Used in export feeds or where a long shelf life is required and in animal tallows and oils.

Oxinat

Natural antioxidant specially designed for the prevention of autoxidation in all food, pet food and pet food ingredients. Oxinat is a blend of natural ingredients with strong antioxidant and chelating properties, which stabilises and extends the shelf life of fats and vitamins. Many food and pet food products are moving away from synthetic antioxidants towards the use of natural antioxidants alternatives.

Oxipet

Synergistic antioxidant blend which does not contain ethoxyquin specially designed for the prevention of autoxidation in all pet foods and pet food ingredients. Oxipet also contains a chelating agent which stabilises and extends the shelf life of fats and vitamins, maintaining nutritional value and preventing food refusal. TBHQ (Food Grade)

tert-Butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) is a white crystalline powder antioxidant food additive, E number 319. It is an excellent antioxidant for vegetable oils and can also be used in animal fats. It is also suitable for protecting crude vegetable oils during storage.
